Antananarivo to Marojejy

Your adventure begins with a morning flight from Antananarivo to Sambava. Upon arrival, your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to Manantenina village, where the entrance to Marojejy National Park is located. After checking in, paying entrance fees, and meeting your local trekking team, you’ll continue with a short 30-minute drive to Mandena village, the starting point of your trek.
From Mandena, the hike begins, leading you through the dense, vibrant rainforest of Marojejy. The trail offers glimpses of unique flora and fauna, including towering ferns, endemic orchids, and colorful chameleons. By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at Camp Mantella, your base for the night.
Camp Mantella features rustic wooden cabins with beds, mattresses, and blankets provided. Though basic, the camp is equipped with shared outdoor toilets, ensuring comfort during your stay. After settling in, enjoy a freshly prepared meal under the rainforest canopy before resting for the night.

Marojejy National Park

After breakfast, you’ll set off on a challenging yet rewarding hike to Camp Marojejia. As you ascend, the rainforest transitions into montane forest, revealing breathtaking vistas of the surrounding mountains. Along the way, your specialist guide will point out endemic plants and animals, including the critically endangered Silky Sifaka, known as the "angel of the forest" due to its silky white fur and graceful movements.
Camp Marojejia is perched on a ridge, offering panoramic views of the rainforest and beyond. The afternoon is free for you to relax, take in the views, or explore nearby trails. Dinner will be prepared by your personal cook, and you’ll spend the night in the camp’s comfortable wooden cabins.

Marojejy National Park

Today is dedicated to exploring Marojejy’s incredible landscapes. Weather permitting, you can embark on a trek to the summit of Marojejy, which offers awe-inspiring views of the entire massif and surrounding wilderness. Alternatively, you can explore other trails that showcase the park’s unique biodiversity, including lemurs, birds, and plant species found nowhere else on Earth.
In the late afternoon, return to Camp Marojejia to relax and enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by your cook.

Marojejy to Sambava

After breakfast, begin your descent through the rainforest, retracing your steps to Mandena village. Along the way, take time to savor the sights and sounds of the forest, including its diverse wildlife and lush vegetation. At Mandena, your car will be waiting to transfer you back to Sambava.
Upon arrival in Sambava, check in to your hotel and enjoy a leisurely afternoon. You may choose to relax by the beach, visit a local vanilla plantation, or explore Sambava’s vibrant markets. End your day with a delicious dinner at your hotel.
