Day 1

Arusha to Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

Arusha to Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha and drive through the village of Marangu to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. While we wait for our permits to be issued, you can observe the bustling activity as various crews prepare for their journeys. Enjoy the stunning rainforest scenery and winding trails as your guide shares insights about the local flora, fauna, and wildlife. At these lower elevations, the trail can be muddy and slippery, so we highly recommend using gaiters and trekking poles for added stability.

Day 5

Kibo Hut to Summit to Horombo

Kibo Hut to Summit to Horombo

As morning approaches, excitement builds for an early start between midnight and 2 AM. This segment of the trek is the most mentally and physically demanding. We will continue our ascent to the summit in a switchback formation, focusing on staying warm and maintaining our determination for the incredible sense of accomplishment that awaits us.
Navigating through heavy scree and possibly snow, we will make our way toward Gillman’s Point on the crater rim. Faster hikers may have the opportunity to witness the sunrise from the summit. From Gillman’s Point, it’s a final hour of ascent to Uhuru Peak, where you are likely to encounter snow along the way.

Day 6

Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

After a heartfelt ceremony of appreciation and team bonding with your crew, it’s time to say goodbye following breakfast. We will continue our descent, stopping at the Mandara Huts for lunch. Remember to tip your guides, cooks, and porters, as you will be parting ways with them here. Upon reaching the Marangu Park Gate, you will receive your summit certificates. As the weather warms up, the terrain can become wet, muddy, and steep, so we highly recommend using gaiters and trekking poles for stability. From the gate, a vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to your hotel in Arusha. Enjoy a long-awaited hot shower, dinner, and celebrations!
