Pick up at Kigali after an early morning breakfast, drive up to Cyangugu border with a remarkable view of Rwanda countryside. It will be a long journey, but so much rewarding, you will appreciate the natural beauty of Rwanda en-route. In case you are using the Uganda side to cross to Congo, then you access it via Bunagana border and settle at the hotel around Bukavu town just nearby Kahuzi-Biega National Park.

Day 2

Lowland Gorilla Trekking

Lowland Gorilla Trekking

Begin your Lowland (Grauer’s gorilla) expedition with an early breakfast, followed by registration and a briefing at the Kahuzi-Biega National Park offices. An experienced park guide will accompany you on a search for the designated lowland gorilla family, with the trek lasting between 2 to 6 hours, including one hour of observing the Grauer’s gorillas. Afterward, return to your hotel or lodge in Bukavu to relax, or take a stroll through the nearby communities with a local guide. You can visit the Lwiro sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees or Kibati Falls, explore the Mbayo tea estates, and more.

Enjoy an early breakfast, then meet your driver-guide who will take you back to Kigali. Along the way, you'll make stops at key tourist sites, including the Nyanza Palace, the museum in Butare, and more. The final stop will be in Kigali late in the afternoon, where you can either relax at your hotel or head to the airport for your evening departure.
