Day 1

The shared road shuttle leaves the city early and arrives at the Timbavati Gate 6 hours later. The gate is 30 minuets from the bush camp. A late lunch is served on arrival. As the day cools down the game drives leaves with experienced guides doing their best to locate and view the wildlife and give you the safari of a life time. The game drives pauses at sunset to share drinks and snacks and watch the setting sun. At Umlani the camp is built along the banks of the Nhlaralumi Seasonal River with a waterhole on the far bank. The thatched huts have an ensuite bathroom and an outside shower. The camp is solar powered and built from locally sourced natural materials like thatch grass and river reeds. Modern touches and luxury finishes, such as mosquito netting and shweshwe local fabrics make Umlani a favourite among seasoned safari goers.

Day 2

Join the early morning game drive with enthusiastic local guides. All of the Big 5 animals - leopard, lion, elephant, rhino and buffalo are found in the Timbavati reserve and around Umlani Bush Camp. The guides interpret the tracks and signs left by passing animals during the night and in the early morning. After a three hour drive return to the camp for breakfast and maybe a shower under the African sky. There is an optional walk with an armed guide after breakfast and then relax at the pool, or in the cool of your hut. Or you can sit in the lounge /bar and keep an eye on the waterhole on the far bank of the Nlaralumi river.
After lunch and as the day cools down there is an afternoon game drive that come back into camp after dark so the last bit is actually a night drive with a hand held spotlight.

Day 3

Enjoy a three hour game drive in Timbavati coming back to Umlani for fresh fruit, chilled juice and a scrumptious cooked breakfast. The drive between the two camps is easy and takes about 1 hour 30 in air-conditioned comfort. Arrive at nDzuti and check into your safari tent before lunch is served on the deck under the trees. The afternoon game drive on Balule, show cases the rolling terrain and rocky outcrops surrounding the Olifants River and this section is well known for its healthy lion and elephant populations.
Each tent has a small patio that looks over the waterhole in front of the camp. The tents have twin beds with a bedside table and a floor fan. The gauze windows allow for a breeze through the tent and the screen bathrooms are decorated with tropical gardens with a hot shower and flush loo.

Day 4

Ndzuti bush camp has access to a large and varied section of the massive Balule Nature Reserve which also makes up part of the Greater Kruger park. The interesting landscapes make for a different backdrop for photography of wildlife and birds. Various water holes and dams attract many animals and occasionally have a resident hippo or croc while the Olifants River has seasonal peaks and ebbs with waterbirds and herds of game. The three hour morning drive leaves early and then gets back to camp before it gets too hot. The afternoon game drive continues after the sundowner stop and in the dark, nocturnal animals can be viewed with the spot light.

Enjoy a last game drive on Balule and test your new found spotting skills and birding knowledge. There is opportunity for a shower once back in camp and breakfast is served before a short drive to meet the shared road transfer back to Johannesburg. The shuttle will get back to OR tambo airport at approximately 17:00.
