Antananarivo to Antsirabe

After breakfast, you will depart on a scenic drive southward to Antsirabe, a charming town known for its colonial charm and thermal springs. The journey takes approximately four hours, offering stunning views of highland landscapes, terraced rice fields, and small villages. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a guided tour of Antsirabe, including visits to artisanal workshops specializing in zebu horn products and miniature rickshaws. You will relax in the evening with a stroll around the tranquil waters of Lake Tritriva or Andraikiba.

Antsirabe to Miandrivazo

Today, you will embark on a drive westward to Miandrivazo, the starting point of your unforgettable river adventure. This journey takes about four hours, descending from the highlands into the warmer and drier western region. Upon reaching Miandrivazo, you will board a traditional pirogue (dugout canoe) to begin your serene descent along the Tsiribihina River. You'll marvel at the unspoiled landscapes, spot endemic bird species, and enjoy the peaceful rhythm of river life. Your crew will prepare meals and set up camp along the riverbanks.

River Trip

You'll spend the day immersed in the beauty of the Tsiribihina River. You'll drift past dramatic gorges, lush forests, and cascading waterfalls. Keep an eye out for wildlife, including lemurs, herons, and kingfishers. You will take breaks to swim in natural pools and explore hidden trails. The experience is both tranquil and invigorating, providing a unique perspective on Madagascar’s remote wilderness. Your overnight camping along the river ensures a close connection to nature.

Tsiribihina to Bekopaka

As your river journey concludes, you'll disembark and meet your driver for the overland journey to Bekopaka, the gateway to the famous Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park. The drive is an adventure in itself, taking approximately six to seven hours along rugged roads and through picturesque landscapes. You will arrive in Bekopaka in the evening and settle into your lodge, ready to explore the wonders of the Tsingy.

Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park

Over the next two days, you will explore the incredible Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park is renowned for its unique limestone formations, razor-sharp pinnacles, and labyrinthine caves. Guided hikes will take you through the Petit Tsingy and Grand Tsingy areas, offering spectacular views and opportunities to see wildlife such as Decken’s sifaka and various endemic birds. Expect moderate to challenging treks with some sections involving suspension bridges and ladders. Evenings will be spent relaxing at your lodge.

Bekopaka to Kirindy Forest

You'll depart Bekopaka and journey to Kirindy Reserve, a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. The drive takes approximately six hours, passing through scenic landscapes and traditional Malagasy villages. In the evening, you will enjoy a night walk in Kirindy to spot nocturnal creatures such as the elusive fossa, giant jumping rats, and various lemur species. The reserve is famous for its dry deciduous forest and high biodiversity.
