Tarangire National Park, covering nearly 3,000 square kilometers, is probably best known for its large elephant populations and iconic baobab trees. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which runs through it and serves as a vital water source during the dry season (June to November). During this time, wildlife concentrations rival those of the Serengeti, with large herds of elephants and other animals gathering near the river. With its diverse habitats and permanent water supply, Tarangire is home to over 2,000 elephants and more than 500 bird species.

Serengeti National Park is one of the world's last great wildlife refuges. Spanning 14,763 square kilometers, the park's name is derived from the Maasai word “Siringet,” meaning "endless plains."

The Central Serengeti offers excellent game viewing throughout the year, thanks to its abundance of resident wildlife. The Seronera River Valley, located in the Central Serengeti, is a highlight of any safari and a must-visit regardless of the season. Game viewing here is at its best during the dry season (June to November) as resident animals are more concentrated in the immediate area due to the lack of water in the plains. Resident herbivores include impala, buffalo, hippo, warthog, topi, hartebeest, and giraffe. Resident carnivores include lions and leopards.

There are several resident lion prides that have been documented within a one-hour game drive radius from the Seronera. During the dry season, these prides shift west and north, concentrating in the central region, which makes for good lion viewing opportunities. The Central Serengeti is also one of the best areas in Africa to spot the elusive leopard. These elusive cats are often seen resting in the branches of sausage trees along the Seronera River.

Often referred to as the "Eighth Natural Wonder of the World," the Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact volcanic caldera on Earth. Approximately two million years ago, the Ngorongoro volcano erupted, causing its walls to collapse and the floor to sink, forming a natural enclosure with 600-meter-tall walls. Now, at over 19 kilometers in width, the crater is home to diverse habitats, including acacia forests, hippo-filled swamps, and open grasslands. These environments support over 30,000 animals, such as elephants, warthogs, flamingos, magnificent birdlife, the rare black rhinoceros, and a variety of predatory cats. Maasai herders can also be seen grazing their cattle alongside buffalo and wildebeest.
