Your adventure begins with your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, where you’ll be welcomed by your guide from Giant Holiday Safaris. After a brief introduction, you will embark on a scenic road trip to Kibale Forest National Park, Uganda’s top destination for chimpanzee trekking. The drive will take approximately 5-6 hours, offering breathtaking views of Uganda’s countryside, with lush hills, picturesque villages, and vast green landscapes.
Upon arrival in Kibale, you’ll settle into your accommodation before gearing up for the highlight of the day: chimpanzee trekking. Kibale Forest is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees, making it one of the best places in the world to track these fascinating primates. After a briefing from your guide, you’ll set off into the forest with a group of fellow trekkers. The forest is rich in biodiversity, with towering trees, dense foliage, and vibrant wildlife. After an early breakfast, you will begin your transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most visited national park. The drive takes around 2-3 hours, offering scenic views of the countryside as you make your way to the park, which is renowned for its diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes.
Once you arrive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, you’ll have the opportunity to relax at your lodge before embarking on an exciting afternoon boat safari on the Kazinga Channel. The Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway that connects Lake Edward and Lake George, is a hotspot for birdlife and wildlife viewing. The boat safari offers an excellent chance to see hippopotamuses wallowing in the water, crocodiles basking in the sun, and elephants, buffaloes, and a variety of antelope species drinking along the shores.

This early morning activity offers the best chance to spot wildlife while they are most active. As you drive through the park, keep your eyes peeled for lions, elephants, leopards, and buffaloes. Queen Elizabeth National Park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, particularly in the Ishasha sector. This is one of the few places in the world where lions are known to climb trees, so it’s a unique opportunity to witness this fascinating behavior.
After the game drive, you will continue your journey south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the home of the endangered mountain gorillas. Along the way, you will pass through the picturesque Ishasha sector, where you may catch a glimpse of the famous tree-climbing lions. The drive to Bwindi takes around 4-5 hours, and you’ll be treated to stunning views of the lush landscapes, rolling hills, and terraced farmland.

Day 4

Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale

Head to the park headquarters for a briefing on the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. The trek to locate a gorilla group can take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours, depending on where the gorillas were last seen.
Bwindi is home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population, and the park’s dense forests and rugged terrain provide the perfect environment for these incredible creatures. Once you locate a group of gorillas, you will have one hour to observe them in their natural habitat. Watching a silverback interact with his family, or seeing young gorillas play, is an emotional and awe-inspiring experience.
After the trek, you’ll return to your lodge for a well-deserved rest and lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll begin your transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, a picturesque crater lake nestled in the hills of Kabale. The drive will take around 2 hours, and upon arrival, you’ll check into your lakeside accommodation and unwind.

The journey takes around 8-9 hours, but the drive offers a last opportunity to take in the beauty of Uganda’s rural landscapes. Depending on your departure time, you’ll have some time for a final stop before continuing to Entebbe International Airport for your departure.
