Day 1

Zanzibar - Ndutu southern Serengeti

Zanzibar - Ndutu southern Serengeti

You will be picked up from Ndutu Airstrip and transferred to the Ndutu region in southern Serengeti. Enjoy a full-day game drive through the heart of the wildebeest migration, witnessing the incredible spectacle of vast herds of wildebeest and zebras roaming the plains. During lunch, your driver will set up a beautiful picnic with a hot meal, including soup, bread rolls, a main dish, and a refreshing fruit salad, accompanied by a glass of wine or tea/coffee. In the late afternoon, we return to camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Discover a diverse range of habitats, including swamps, woodlands, soda lakes, and the iconic Serengeti short grass plains. During the brief calving season in February, lasting about three weeks, the plains come alive with the birth of thousands of wildebeest calves. The open grasslands offer little protection, making the newborns vulnerable to predators.

Southern Serengeti national park

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at the camp, followed by an exciting game drive through the Ndutu area. Explore the expansive grassy plains and woodlands, tracking the massive herds of wildebeest and zebra. At lunchtime, your driver will set up a delightful picnic with a hot meal, including soup, bread rolls, a main dish, and a fresh fruit salad, complemented by a glass of wine or tea/coffee. After lunch, we continue our game drive, and in the evening, return to the camp for a delicious dinner and a restful overnight stay.

The Serengeti is renowned for its extraordinary migration. Each year, over a million wildebeest and approximately 200,000 zebras make their way south from the northern hills to the southern plains in search of the short rains, typically during October and November. After the long rains in April, May, and June, the herds shift west and north, continuing their epic journey across this vast and awe-inspiring landscape.
