The short rains begin in Serengeti in early November, so the herds of the wildebeest migration start to arrive through the north of the park from Maasai Mara. Throughout the month, they head to the short grass plains of Serengeti around the east of the park.
Towards mid-December the migration continues to the south of the National Park to an area called Ndutu and they also cross into the north of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Dispersed across these plains, wildebeest and zebra are everywhere, feeding on the fresh, nutritious grass. Here they stay through the months of January, February and March.
They then continue through to Northern Serengeti where they stay between the months of July through to October.
