Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your Cari Local Safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation. You’ll begin your journey to Tarangire National Park, a scenic two and a half hour drive on well-maintained tarmac roads. The park is named after the Tarangire River, the region’s vital water source for wildlife during the dry season, and is often referred to as the 'river of warthogs.'
Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds, which can often be spotted near the river. You may also encounter giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests. Predators such as lions and leopards are often close behind. The park is a birdwatcher’s paradise, with more bird species breeding here than anywhere else on Earth. The iconic, ancient baobab trees, some thought to be over a thousand years old, dot the landscape.
You’ll enjoy lunch at a picnic spot within the park. After your exciting game drive, you’ll travel to your accommodation in Karatu for the evening.
