Amboseli National Park
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
As you’ll quickly discover, we like to get up early on while on safari – it’s the most peaceful time of the day when the gentle morning light softly plays on the fields and the wildlife edges out looking for its breakfast.
We’ll enjoy our breakfast and then set off in our 4 x 4, exploring for more elephants but also lions, cheetah, fox, monkey, baboon, zebra, and more.
Amboseli is known for its profuse and varied birdlife. Your guide will be looking to spot egrets, crake, heron, falcon, eagle, and Egyptian goose by the lakes and marshes, dotting the park.
We might take a drive up Observation Hill, step out from our 4 x 4 and look about the park for buffalo, hippo, pelican, and of course, the many elephants throughout the park.
As the sun’s light begins to fade, we’ll turn again to great Kilimanjaro to look for its snowy summit peaking out from the clouds.

Amboseli - Aberdare (358 Km – Appx. 6 hrs.)
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
We’ll be up early for a final game drive through the Amboseli and then point our 4 x 4 north toward Aberdare Park.
Aberdare is different – not your usual African safari with its sun-baked savannah or rolling hills. Here we’re up country – think rich green forests, waterfalls, and mountain lakes.
Even our lodging is different here – you’ll be staying in a “Tree Lodge”, high above the park’s forests and its moorlands. From your balcony look for elephants, hyenas, buffalo, warthogs, and monkeys, strutting or scampering out from the forest to the nearby watering holes.
Though not too common, there have been sightings of rarities like the golden cat, giant forest hog, and the bongo, an unusually large antelope.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
We’ll leave our “tree hotel” and the cool, verdant climate of this unusual park for the more traditional expansive fields and savannah feel of Samburu National Reserve.
The Reserve holds great numbers of big cats like lion and cheetah but also big-tusked elephants. Not an overly touristed park, you’ll enjoy the sweeping horizons without the big crowds.
We can also visit two nearby reserves, Shaba and Buffalo Springs for a greener look with their forests and woodlands.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
It’s our fifth day on safari! You’re starting to get into the rhythms of our natural world, so you’re probably getting up earlier… even without your alarm. Let’s enjoy the soft light of the early morning and the first appearances of the wildlife.
We’ll be exploring for lions and elephants but also some of Samburu’s “Special Five” like the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and the beisa oryx.
The park is bisected by the Ewaso Ngiro River, cutting a green swash through the rugged terrain and making an excellent location to spot the thirsty wildlife.
If you desire, we can visit the local Samburu People, closely related to the Masai. We’ll visit their village and learn about their lifestyle up close.

You can find a wonderful assortment of large and small game here – all of the “Big Five” and also more rarely seen species like the African wild dog and the chimpanzee.
We can visit the special rhino sanctuary, protecting these rare and endangered creatures.
