We will pick you up from your designated location in Dar es Salaam and transfer you to the airport for your flight to Kigoma town. Upon arrival at Kigoma Airport, our team will be there to welcome you and transfer you to the shores of Lake Tanganyika, where you'll board a private boat to Gombe National Park. You’ll arrive at the park in the late evening, allowing time to unwind on the beach before enjoying dinner and your overnight stay.

Gombe National Park

Eat breakfast at your accommodations, then set off for a chimpanzee trek in the forest. Gombe National Park’s main attraction is the chimpanzee families that live and are protected within its boundaries. In addition to chimpanzee viewing, the park is home to many other primates, including colobus monkeys, baboons, and forest pigs, as well as dik-diks and a wide variety of tropical bird species.

The tour also includes a visit to the Kakombe Waterfall, a scenic natural feature within the park. In the evening, you’ll explore a cultural tourism site in Mwamgongo Village, located adjacent to Gombe National Park. The village has a women’s cultural group that offers visitors an authentic experience of local hospitality, traditional dances, and arts and crafts. The artisans create pottery, fabrics, grass hats, mats, and baskets using traditional techniques and locally sourced materials.

Have an early breakfast, then depart from your accommodations to begin your mountain hike. Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the rift escarpment's mountains as they descend westward into the lake. The diverse terrain—featuring valleys, mosaic forests, woodlands, and grasslands—creates a stunning and ever-changing landscape for visitors to enjoy.

In the afternoon, you can take a short walk along the shores of Lake Tanganyika or visit the waterfalls before unwinding with a refreshing swim at the lake’s beach.

Gombe National Park - Dar es Salaam

Enjoy breakfast at your lodge before taking a boat transfer to Kigoma. Upon arrival, your driver will meet you and transfer you by car to the airport for your flight back to Dar es Salaam. Once in Dar es Salaam, you will be transferred to your hotel or your preferred destination.
