Ngorongoro crater
The Ngorongoro Crater, with its fertile volcanic soil, supports a wide variety of habitats, making it one of the few places where you can spot the Big Five in a single day. At its heart lies Lake Makat (Soda Lake in Maasai), a haven for numerous bird species.
The area is also home to many Maasai families, living in their distinctive circular bomas. For those interested in human history, the Ngorongoro region is a must-visit, as it played a pivotal role in the study of human evolution, led by the Leakey family.
Wildlife sightings may include lions, buffalo, wildebeest, zebras, hippos, gazelles, jackals, foxes, wild dogs, elands, waterbucks, servals, and other ungulates. Giraffes, cheetahs, leopards, and elephants are less commonly seen, with the latter occasionally spotted along the crater rim.
In the evening, you’ll return to Arusha, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel to conclude your safari adventure.
