Day 2

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your accommodation in Arusha and head towards Tarangire National Park, located in the Manyara region. The park gets its name from the Tarangire River, which flows through it.

Covering 2,600 square kilometers, Tarangire is the 6th-largest national park in Tanzania and is renowned for its impressive herds of elephants. While the park is often drier than the Serengeti, its landscape is lush with vibrant grasses, expansive acacia woodlands, and unique aquatic forests. Don’t miss the majestic baobab trees, some of which can live up to 600 years and store between 300 and 900 liters of water.

Ngorongoro Crater

Early risers are treated to stunning views of the sun rising over the crater’s edge. You'll descend the rugged track into the Ngorongoro Crater. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of Africa's Seven Wonders, is considered one of the most remarkable ecosystems on Earth. Formed millions of years ago by a volcanic explosion, the crater is 610 meters deep and spans around 260 square kilometers. Home to roughly 25,000 animals, it offers some of the best game viewing in Tanzania. Within minutes, you'll spot wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, elephants, and more than 500 bird species. If you're lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the rare black rhino grazing in the tall grass.
