Trekking Gorillas

Get ready for an exciting start to your day with an early morning breakfast before heading to the park headquarters. You will have your packed lunch and bottled water in tow for a briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00am. Following the briefing, your journey into the wild begins as you set off with ranger guides in pursuit of the majestic mountain gorillas; this adventure can last anywhere from 2 to 8 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Nevertheless, the guides will endeavor to track them down from their last known location the day before! You will spend 1 hour with these gentle giants before heading back to your lodge to unwind and rejuvenate. In the evening, you have the chance to embark on an optional community tour around Ruhengeri for an immersive cultural experience in Rwanda. Enjoy a delightful dinner followed by a cozy overnight stay at your selected lodge.

After an exhilarating trek lasting between 2 to 8 hours, you have the incredible opportunity to spend an hour with the gorillas. If you are feeling energetic, take a short stroll to visit the local Batwa community and immerse yourself in the surroundings. Explore the curio shops, the children’s school, and more. If you have a passion for the great outdoors, consider exploring the Munyanja river trail, where you can discover a vibrant variety of birdlife and butterflies.
