The park is named after the Tarangire River, the primary water source for wildlife in the area during the dry season. This ‘river of warthogs’ attracts an abundance of wildlife, including large elephant herds often seen gathered along the river. You may also spot giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, all of which are closely followed by predators like lions and leopards. Tarangire is famous for having more breeding species of birds than any other place in the world!
