Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Nairobi or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, followed by a scenic drive to the Masai Mara National Reserve. As you travel through the stunning Great Rift Valley, you will stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, which offers panoramic views of one of the world's most remarkable geological features.

The drive continues through dramatic landscapes until you arrive at the Masai Mara for a delicious hot lunch. Afterward, you will embark on an afternoon game drive in the reserve. The Masai Mara is famous for its rich biodiversity and breathtaking scenery, providing opportunities to spot some of Africa's most iconic wildlife, including lions, elephants, zebras and giraffes. The reserve sits at an altitude of 1,650 meters (5,414 feet) and forms the northern extension of the Serengeti, covering an area of over 1,510 square kilometers (almost 600 square miles).

Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, prepare for an exciting full day of exploration in the Masai Mara. You will spend the day on an extensive game drive, allowing you to witness the incredible variety of wildlife the reserve offers. Keep an eye out for the Big Five and other species, such as hippos, crocodiles, cheetahs and hyenas.

The great migration is a spectacular sight, especially between July and October, when millions of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles cross the Mara River in search of fresh grazing grounds. Maasai Village Visit and Return to Nairobi

Start the final day of your safari with an early breakfast before heading to a Maasai village for an immersive cultural experience. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the Maasai people, adorned in their traditional red shúkàs and vibrant beadwork jewelry. This visit offers a unique opportunity to learn about the Maasai way of life, their customs, and their cattle-herding traditions. One of the highlights is the famous Maasai jumping dance (adumu), where warriors leap high into the air, and you might even have the chance to join in! You will also explore the traditional manyattas (huts) and gain insight into how the Maasai live harmoniously with the land and wildlife. After this enriching experience, you will return to Nairobi, where your safari will conclude with a drop-off at your hotel or the airport, leaving you with unforgettable memories of an incredible wildlife and cultural journey.
