Day 1

Hotel to Machame Camp

Hotel to Machame Camp

The drive from Moshi to Machame Gate takes approximately 45 minutes, passing through the village of Machame, situated on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Once you depart from the park gate, you will begin your hike through the rainforest on a winding trail that ascends a ridge. At lower elevations, the trail can be muddy and slippery, so gaiters and trekking poles are recommended. You'll continue for a short distance until you reach Machame Camp.

After breakfast, you'll leave the lush glades of the rainforest and continue along an ascending path, crossing the valley and navigating a steep rocky ridge. The route then turns west toward a river gorge until you reach the Shira campsite.

Day 3

Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

From the Shira Plateau, you'll continue east up a ridge, passing the junction that leads toward the peak of Kibo. As you progress, your direction shifts to the southeast toward the Lava Tower, known as the “Shark’s Tooth” (elevation 4,650 m / 15,250 ft). Shortly after passing the tower, you'll arrive at the second junction that leads to the Arrow Glacier. You’ll then descend to Barranco Camp. Although you’ll end the day at a similar elevation to where you started, this day is crucial for acclimatization, helping your body prepare for the summit day.

After breakfast, you'll depart from Barranco and tackle the steep ridge up the Barranco Wall, leading you to the Karanga Valley and the junction that connects with the Mweka Trail.

You'll continue your ascent to Barafu Camp, having completed the south circuit, which provides stunning views of the summit from various angles. Once you arrive at camp, you can rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the challenging summit day ahead.

Day 6

Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Camp

Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Camp

Very early in the morning (between midnight and 2 AM), you'll begin your ascent to the summit, navigating between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. Heading in a northwesterly direction, you'll climb through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This section of the trek is the most mentally and physically challenging. At Stella Point, you'll take a short rest and be rewarded with one of the most breathtaking sunrises you'll ever witness. Faster hikers may have the opportunity to view the sunrise from the summit.
From Stella Point, you may encounter snow during your 1-hour ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the entire continent of Africa!
After reaching the summit, you’ll begin your descent, heading straight down to Mweka Camp and stopping at Barafu for lunch. It’s advisable to use gaiters and trekking poles to navigate the loose gravel on the way down. Once you arrive at Mweka Camp, you can relax and enjoy your final evening on the mountain.

After breakfast, you'll begin your descent to Mweka Park Gate to collect your summit certificates. At lower elevations, the terrain can be wet and muddy, so gaiters and trekking poles will be helpful. Lightweight clothing like shorts and t-shirts should suffice, but keep your rain gear and warmer layers accessible.
A Monkey Adventures vehicle will be waiting for you at Mweka Gate to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi, which takes approximately 60 minutes.

After breakfast, your tour begins with a stop in Arusha town for any last-minute shopping before heading on safari. Next, you'll travel to Tarangire National Park for an exciting game drive, complete with a picnic lunch in the park. Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant population and iconic baobab trees, serving as the center of an annual migratory cycle that includes up to 3,000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeests, 30,000 zebras, as well as lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, ostriches, warthogs, and acacia savannah.

After breakfast, you will depart for Serengeti National Park, passing through the picturesque high-altitude farmlands of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you leave the lush highlands behind, you’ll reach the Ngorongoro Gate, where you’ll stop for a short briefing and have the opportunity to take photos.
Continuing your journey, you’ll pause at the crater viewpoint to take in the breathtaking panorama of Ngorongoro Crater while your safari guide provides insights into its unique ecosystem. After capturing stunning photographs, you’ll proceed with your adventure, descending into the heart of wild Africa—Serengeti National Park—where vast, endless plains stretch as far as the eye can see.

You'll wake up early in the morning and start your day with a refreshing cup of tea or coffee. With a packed breakfast to keep you energized, you'll embark on an early morning game drive, taking advantage of the best time to witness predators in action. During the night and early morning hours, lions, cheetahs, and other hunters are at their most active, increasing your chances of witnessing thrilling wildlife interactions.
Your drive will take you east of central Serengeti, exploring areas known for cheetahs, lions resting on rocky outcrops, and a variety of other animals. The game drive will continue until early afternoon, after which you'll either return to your accommodation for a hot lunch or enjoy a picnic lunch in the wild.

After breakfast, your safari guide will take you on an unforgettable journey to Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll descend over 600 meters into the crater floor, where a year-round supply of water and lush vegetation supports an incredible diversity of wildlife. The crater is home to vast herds of wildebeests, zebras, buffalos, elands, warthogs, hippos, and the majestic African elephant.
Ngorongoro is also renowned for its high density of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard, which often requires a keen eye to spot. Your game drive will include a visit to Lake Magadi, a large, shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern part of the crater. This lake is a prime gathering spot for flamingos, hippos, and various waterfowl.
You’ll then head to Engutoku, where you’ll enjoy a scenic picnic lunch near the hippo pool, with an opportunity to freshen up at the nearby facilities.
