Known as the Eighth Natural Wonder of the World, Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact crater on Earth. Nearly two million years ago, a volcanic eruption caused its walls to collapse, forming a natural enclosure with 600-meter-tall edges. Today, spanning over 19 kilometers, the crater encompasses a variety of habitats from expansive acacia forests and hippo-filled swamps to open grasslands. These diverse ecosystems support more than 30,000 animals, including elephants, warthogs, flamingos, a dazzling array of birds, the rare black rhinoceros, and several predatory cats.
