Journey to Masai Mara & Afternoon Game Drive

Journey to Masai Mara & Afternoon Game Drive

The adventure begins early in the morning with a scenic drive from Nairobi to Masai Mara, a journey of approximately 5 to 6 hours. Along the way, a brief stop at the Great Rift Valley Viewpoint provides an opportunity to marvel at the stunning escarpments and vast landscapes stretching into the horizon.

Arriving at Mara Leisure Tented Camp in time for lunch, guests check in and relax before setting out for an afternoon game drive. Masai Mara, one of Africa’s most renowned wildlife reserves, is home to the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino—alongside a diverse range of other wildlife. The golden plains, acacia-dotted savannah, and vast landscapes create an ideal setting for spotting herds of elephants, prides of lions, and perhaps even an elusive leopard resting in a tree. As the sun sets, guests return to camp for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.

Game Tracking in Masai Mara

The second day begins with an early morning game drive, departing just after sunrise when wildlife is most active. Predators such as lions and cheetahs can often be seen hunting, while large elephant herds roam freely across the plains. After an exciting morning of wildlife sightings, guests return to camp for a hearty breakfast before heading out again for a full-day game drive. Equipped with packed lunch, the drive explores different areas of the reserve, including the Mara River, famous for the dramatic wildebeest migration. Along the way, hippos and crocodiles can be seen basking in the sun, while giraffes and zebras graze nearby.

The evening is spent unwinding back at Mara Leisure Tented Camp, with dinner served under the star-lit African sky.

Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake known for its abundant birdlife and hippos, offers a refreshing contrast to the open savannah of Masai Mara.

The boat ride leads to Crescent Island, a private sanctuary where guests can enjoy a guided walking safari among zebras, giraffes, and antelopes.
