This iconic crater is renowned for having one of the highest concentrations of African wildlife, hosting around 30,000 animals, including some of Tanzania’s rare black rhinos. Thanks to its year-round water sources and abundant vegetation, the crater sustains a diverse range of species, such as herds of wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, eland, warthogs, hippos, and massive African elephants.
The crater is also famous for its thriving predator population, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard, which can be a challenge to spot without a keen eye.
