Depart early from Dar es Salaam and take the SGR (Standard Gauge Railway) train to Morogoro, enjoying a comfortable and scenic journey. Upon arrival at the Morogoro train station, continue your drive to Mikumi National Park (approx. 1.5-hour drive). Arrive in the afternoon and embark on an exciting game drive through Mikumi’s wildlife-rich Mkata Floodplain. Spot elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and more as you explore the park. Overnight at camp in Mikumi.

Full Day in Mikumi National Park

Spend a full day exploring Mikumi National Park. Visit different areas of the park, including hippo pools and the vast open plains teeming with wildlife. Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst nature’s beauty. An optional evening game drive offers the chance to spot nocturnal animals in action. Return to your lodge for an overnight stay in Mikumi.

Mikumi to Udzungwa Mountains National Park

After breakfast, depart for Udzungwa Mountains National Park (approx. 1.5–2 hours’ drive). Upon arrival, begin a trek to the magnificent Sanje Waterfalls, hiking through lush tropical forests. Along the way, spot endemic primates such as the Udzungwa red colobus and Sanje mangabey. Reach the top of the waterfall for panoramic views and a refreshing ambiance before descending. Transfer to your lodge near Udzungwa for an overnight stay.

Udzungwa to Dar es Salaam

After breakfast, take some time to relax near the park before departing for Dar es Salaam (approx. 6–7 hours’ drive). Enjoy a lunch stop along the way. Upon arrival in Morogoro in the afternoon, board the SGR train for a comfortable journey back to Dar es Salaam. Once in Dar, you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport for your onward journey.
