Here in Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, you'll enjoy beautiful forested hills and good birding, and there's a chance you'll see elephants and lions while you explore. Tita hills to Tsavo East

Start your day with an early morning game drive, returning in time for a leisurely breakfast. After breakfast, you'll drive further east and arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. Following lunch, you'll set out on your first game drive in the park, searching for the unique red-dusted elephants, lions, and other wildlife that inhabit this area. You'll return to the camp at sunset.

In Tsavo East, there's a good chance of spotting male lions without manes and elephants with a distinctive red hue due to their wallowing in the park's red dust. On the dry plains in the eastern part of the park, cheetahs are often seen hunting. You can also look for the Somali ostrich, which is not found anywhere else this far south in Kenya, along with the gerenuk (an antelope known for its long neck) and the elusive hirola antelope. In addition to the Somali ostrich, nearly 500 bird species have been recorded in Tsavo East.

Day 3

Tsavo East

Tsavo East

Today's itinerary is flexible, allowing you to discuss and plan the day's schedule with your guide.

You have two options for your day:

1. Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and then depart for a half-day game drive at around 7:30 AM. After the drive, return to the camp for a leisurely late lunch and enjoy a free afternoon.

2. Alternatively, you can choose to depart early for breakfast while the animals are still active. Afterward, return to the lodge for a leisurely late breakfast and lunch. Spend the middle of the day relaxing, just like the animals do—read your favorite book, enjoy some time by the swimming pool, or write in your journal. Then, venture out again at 4:00 PM when the day starts to cool down. Look for the Tsavo special animals, including the maneless lions, leopards, and the famous red-dusted elephants, before returning to the lodge late in the evening.
