Today, this vast crater, spanning over 19 km wide, is home to a variety of habitats, including acacia forests, hippo-filled swamps, and open grasslands. The crater supports a diverse range of wildlife, including over 30,000 animals such as elephants, warthogs, flamingos, an impressive array of bird species, the rare black rhino, and the predatory big cats.
