Leaving Amboseli behind, you drive westward into Tsavo West National Park, a landscape defined by its rugged hills, lava flows, and dense woodlands. Your first stop is Mzima Springs, an oasis of crystal-clear water fed by underground rivers from Kilimanjaro. Here, you take a short walk along the banks, watching hippos bask lazily while crocodiles lurk beneath the water’s surface.
Continuing through the park, you traverse the eerie expanse of Shetani Lava Flow, a vast field of black volcanic rock that, according to local legend, was formed by the devil himself. By midday, you cross into Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, where rolling green hills replace the arid landscapes of Tsavo.
After lunch, an afternoon game drive takes you through dense acacia forests and open plains, home to elephants, giraffes, and elusive leopards. As night falls, enjoy a sundowner on an elevated deck, watching as the last rays of sunlight fade over the hills.
