After breakfast, your driver will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi and take you to the Marangu Gate for climber registration. Following the registration, you’ll transfer overland to the Rongai Gate, which is about a 2.5-hour drive. Once at the gate, your hike begins as you make your way toward the 1st Caves Camp. Along the way, you’ll pass lush cornfields and a dense pine forest, immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the area. The steady climb will offer fantastic views as you move through the diverse landscapes. By the time you reach the 1st Caves Camp in the afternoon, you’ll be ready to relax and enjoy a well-earned hot dinner. The evening will be spent resting, preparing for the next day’s adventure, and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere of the mountain as you settle in for a good night’s sleep.

Day 2
1st Caves Camp - Kikelewa Cave

After a fulfilling breakfast, you’ll begin the strenuous climb toward Kikelewa Cave. The hike will take you through stunning scenery as you ascend, with a break for lunch at 2nd Caves Camp along the way. You’ll enjoy a well-earned rest before continuing toward Kikelewa. Upon reaching your destination in the afternoon, a hot meal will await, providing the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy some time around the fire with fellow climbers. As the sun sets, the Tanzanian landscape below becomes a patchwork of distant views, while the stars emerge in the clear sky above. It’s in this moment, surrounded by the vastness of nature, that you’ll begin to appreciate just how high you’ve climbed. The crisp mountain air and the serenity of the environment offer a peaceful end to the day, and you’ll retire for the night, knowing that the next stages of your journey will bring even greater challenges and rewards.

Day 3
Kikelewa Cave - Mawenzi Tarn Camp

Today, you’ll embark on a short but steep hike from Kikelewa at 3,600 meters to Mawenzi Tarn Camp at 4,330 meters. The terrain features scrubby alpine moorland, with distinctive plants unique to Tanzania. The hike provides a striking contrast in landscape as you ascend to the camp, where the atmosphere becomes more rugged and remote. Mawenzi Tarn Camp offers an unforgettable camping experience, surrounded by stunning natural beauty. The camp’s location offers breathtaking views, with the dramatic, menacing stone towers of Mawenzi Peak looming in the distance. These towering rock formations create a striking backdrop, adding to the camp's raw and isolated ambiance. Day 4
Mawenzi Tarn Camp - Kibo Hut

Today, you're getting an early start to the day—just after midnight! As you get dressed and organize your daypack for the adventure ahead, your climbing team will wake you up with a cup of hot tea and a light snack for energy. Take it slow; you'll be hiking in complete darkness for the next 5-7 hours. This way, you'll get to Stella Point just before dawn. Your next two hours of arduous hiking will take you to Uhuru Peak, your ultimate destination. Standing at 5,985 meters, you'll be able to witness an amazing sunrise and enjoy the expansive view. You've succeeded! Returning to Horombo Hut via Kibo Hut is the next step. This will undoubtedly be one of the heaviest days of your life, requiring anywhere from 12 to 16 hours of hiking!

Today is a celebratory day as you have your final breakfast on the mountain before descending to the Marangu Gate. The nearly 20-kilometer walk is much easier than the ascent, thanks to the steady downhill. As you make your way down, you’ll have time to reflect on your incredible journey and the challenges you’ve overcome. Upon arriving at the gate, you can celebrate your success with your porters and guides, offering them tips as a token of gratitude for their hard work. You’ll also receive your completion certificate, a proud reminder of your achievement. After the formalities, your driver will take you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. It’s time to relax and rest after an unforgettable adventure, allowing yourself to reflect on the triumph of summiting Kilimanjaro. The sense of accomplishment will stay with you as you enjoy a well-deserved break, knowing you’ve conquered the Roof of Africa.
