Its iconic annual migration of over a million wildebeests, 250,000 zebras, and antelopes is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The park is home to 500+ bird species, including ostriches, starlings, and eagles, as well as diverse wildlife like lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, and buffalo.

The park's landscape varies from short grass plains in the southeast to hills in the north (Kogatende), rivers and forests in the western corridor (Grumeti), and rock formations (kopjes) in the central and northern regions. Serengeti can be visited year-round, with the dry season (June-October) being ideal.
