Your Wagatil Safaris guide will pick you up from your hotel or Kigali International Airport in the morning. After a short tour briefing, you’ll set off on a scenic drive to Rwanda’s northern province, home to Volcanoes National Park. Pass through lush countryside and rolling hills until you reach Musanze, the gateway town to the park. Upon arrival, check in to your mid-range lodge nestled near the forested slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes. Spend your afternoon relaxing or enjoying optional activities like visiting the Twin Lakes or Iby’iwacu Cultural Village. Rest well before tomorrow’s trek.

Day 2

After an early breakfast, head to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing on golden monkey tracking. Accompanied by a park ranger, trek into the bamboo forest where these endangered and energetic primates thrive. Watch them leap through the trees and snap some photos during your one-hour encounter. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and a quick freshen-up, then check out and begin your drive to Uganda via the Katuna border. The journey takes you through beautiful highlands into the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arrive in the evening, check in to your forest lodge, and prepare for your unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure.

Rise early for breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for your gorilla trekking briefing. You'll be assigned to a gorilla family and venture into the dense forest with your guide. The trek can last several hours, depending on the gorillas’ location, but the reward is an extraordinary hour spent in their presence—an intimate and emotional wildlife encounter. After the trek, return to the lodge for a late lunch and some well-earned rest. Spend the rest of the day relaxing or taking in the views of the surrounding rainforest.

Bwindi – Return to Kigali
Bwindi – Return to Kigali
Enjoy a peaceful breakfast, then check out and begin your return journey to Kigali via the Katuna border. The drive offers scenic views of Uganda’s terraced hills, villages, and distant volcanoes. Depending on your schedule, you may stop for photos, a local lunch, or a quick visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Your Wagatil Safaris guide will drop you off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport in time for your departure, concluding your incredible cross-border safari adventure.
