Discover the natural beauty of Debre Zeit on a day trip from Addis Ababa. Admire the stunning crater lakes, visit the Bishoftu Cultural Center, and relax at a resort. Start your journey with a drive to Hora, located on the edge of the largest crater lake. This area is popular for boating and water skiing, and birdwatchers will delight in spotting various species such as cormorants, pelicans, grebes, shovellers, storks, and a plethora of vibrant passerines. Continuing along the same road past the Veterinary Training Center and Experimental Station, arrive at an even more picturesque lake where the mission has its headquarters. Other notable lakes in the vicinity include Green Lake, renowned for its birdlife, and Lake Bishoftu to the south. Debre Zeit, also referred to as Bishoftu, is situated approximately 47 kilometers southeast of Addis Ababa, making it a favored destination for day trips from the capital.
