It is also home to buffaloes, zebras, and wildebeests, which various predators, including lions, often accompany. While leopards can occasionally be spotted, cheetahs are rarely seen.

Karatu to Ngorongoro Crater and Arusha

After breakfast, we will head to the Ngorongoro Crater and descend over 600m (2,00ft) into the crater for a half-day safari tour. The Ngorongoro National Park, supported by a year-round water supply and abundant fodder, is home to various wildlife. You can expect to see herds of wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, elands, warthogs, hippos, and impressive African elephants.

A major highlight of this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopards, which can be difficult to spot without a trained eye.

During our visit, we will also explore Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the crater's southwestern corner. This area is often bustling with diverse wildlife, including numerous flamingos, hippos, and other water birds.

We will begin our ascent from the crater in the evening and head back to Arusha, Kilimanjaro International Airport, or your lodge.
