Arusha National Park

Upon your arrival, you will meet with our tour driver-guide at the Airport and transfer you straight to Arusha National Park for the game drive. Later, you will be transferred to the famous Hatari Lodge for an overnight stay and get briefed and prepared for the Meru trek starting on the following day.

Arusha National Park is one of the mysterious national parks located in Northern Tanzania, Northeast of Arusha city. It is famous for being home to Tanzania's second-highest mountain, Mount Meru, and the world's largest population of giraffes. The main attractions of this park are the ancient fig trees, crystal clear water in flowing mountain streams, and a chance to spot Colobus monkeys.

Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut

- Elevation gain: 1,387 m/4,921 f (Momella Gate) - 2,514 m/8,250 f (Miriakamba Huts)
- Hiking distance: 10 km
- Hiking time: 5-6 hours
- Environment: Grassland and Rainforest

In the morning you will go through the other parts of Arusha National Park from the lodge and then straight to the trailhead. You will experience multiple encounters with giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, birds, and other wild animals.
At Momella Gate the guides will arrange the permit formalities, and you will start trekking to Miriakamba Huts.
Wild animals (warthogs, zebras, monkeys, antelopes, and, sometimes, elephants) are the normal encounters along the way.

Miriakamba Huts to Saddle Hut

- Elevation gain: 2,514 m/8,250 f (Miriakamba Hut) - 3,570 m 11,712 ft (Saddle Hut)
- Hiking distance: 8 km Hiking time: 4-5 hours
- Environment: Moorland and Heath

After breakfast, the group will start trekking to Saddle Hut Camp. The rainforest zone will end soon, giving place to heath and moorland with large trees. The trail will open amazing panoramic vistas.
Our team will serve hot lunch and dinner in the camp.

Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak then down to Miriakamba Hut

- Elevation gain: 3,570 m 11,712 ft (Saddle Hut) - 4,565 m/14,977 m (Socialist Peak)
- Hiking distance: 6 km to Socialist Peak and then 8km to Miriakamba hut
- Hiking time: 4-10 hours
- Environment: Moorland and Heath

At Midnight you'll start trekking to the Socialist Peak. You should be prepared for a tough and strenuous hike - the legs to Rhino Point and Cobra points are especially precipitous. Be careful!
The group will reach Socialist Peak (4,565 m/14,977 m) by sunrise, where you’ll have true visual euphoria - thrilling panoramic sceneries around and mesmerizing sunrise.
After the summit time, you'll have lunch at Saddle Hut and thereafter descend to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and then rest for the night.

Miriakamba to Momella Gate

Wake up early this morning to begin your trek to Momella Gate, where our car will meet you for a transfer game drive en route to the lodge within the park.

Departure

Today will be the last day of your tour.
After breakfast at the lodge, you'll gather your things and our driver-guide will give you a final lap of game drive around the national park as you are transferred to the airport ready for your next adventure.
