Skukuza Airport - Umkumbe Safari Lodge

Upon arrival at Skukuza Airport around midday, guests are greeted by a lodge representative for a scenic 1.5-hour transfer to Umkumbe Safari Lodge in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. The journey offers the first glimpses of wildlife as you drive through the reserve. Upon arrival at the lodge, enjoy a welcome drink and check-in, followed by a light lunch with views of the Sand River, where elephants and other animals are often spotted. In the late afternoon, set off on the first game drive in an open 4x4 vehicle, led by expert rangers and trackers. Expect to see a variety of wildlife, including elephants, buffalos, lions, and possibly the elusive leopard for which Sabi Sands is famous. Transfer back to the lodge where the guests can freshen up & have a delicious dinner under the Stars.

Safari at Sabi Sands Game Reserve

The day begins early with a 5:30 AM wake-up call for a sunrise game drive, the best time for predator activity and witnessing the bush come to life. After 3 hours of exploring, return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. After lunch, guests can take an afternoon siesta before gathering again for the second game drive. This drive offers another opportunity to track the Big Five and other wildlife. The return to the lodge is followed by a delicious dinner, where guests can unwind and discuss the highlights of their safari experience.
