Day 1

Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

You will be picked up from the airport with a briefing by your guide-driver. You will be driven north past the equator to the Northern Frontier district. You'll continue to the semi-arid Samburu National Reserve and check in at your campsite. You'll have lunch at the lodge. There will be time to settle in before your safari adventure in the afternoon. You'll set out for an afternoon game drive in the reserve. You'll enjoy twice-daily game drives where you will see huge and majestic elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs, and all of the "Special Five" which include the beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk antelope, and Somali ostrich.
In the hot and arid lowlands of the Northern districts of Kenya, featuring doum palms and over 450 species of birds, there are interesting experiences to keep you fascinated over the next day or two. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at your lodge.

You'll set out for an early morning game drive in the Samburu Reserve for the whole day. The morning is usually the most popular game-viewing time. During the early hours, the temperatures are low, thus providing a favorable atmosphere both for the game and the viewer. Lions, cheetahs, and leopards roam the vast grasslands in search of their next meal - it may be an unsuspecting impala or even a small animal like a warthog. The spectacle of nature unfolding is always amazing to watch from the pop-up roof. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.

After breakfast, depart for Mount Kenya National Park, home to Africa’s second-highest peak. Arrive in time for check-in and lunch at your lodge, and a relaxation. Spend the afternoon exploring the park with a guided nature walk, where you may encounter colobus monkeys, elephants, and diverse birdlife. Relax with scenic views of the mountain before dinner.

Spend the day enjoying Mount Kenya’s serene environment. You can take an optional early morning hike(Optional, at an extra cost)for breathtaking views or visit the Mau Mau caves, rich in historical significance. For adventure seekers, engage in rock climbing or go trout fishing in the mountain streams. You can also embark on a forest canopy walk, offering a unique perspective of the lush ecosystem. For a relaxed experience, watch wildlife at the lodge’s waterhole or enjoy spa treatments. The day concludes with a cozy evening at the lodge, where you can admire the towering peaks of Mount Kenya.

You'll have an early breakfast at the lodge after your morning game drive. Then, you'll drive to Lake Nakuru National Park for the game drives. The park is surrounded by wooded and bushy grassland. It is ideal for bird watching, hiking, picnics, and viewing the endangered black and white rhinos, leopards, Rothschild giraffes, and a variety of bird species. Thereafter, you'll return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Full-Day Safari in Maasai Mara

After breakfast, you'll have a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve—lunch will be a picnic. The reserve is well known for its black-maned lions and abundant wildlife. This is one of the few places where it is possible to see the Big Five during a morning game drive. Many cheetahs are so tame they seek shelter from the hot sun under vehicles. Several even climb onto the roof to get a better view of prospective prey! For bird enthusiasts, there are almost 500 species have been recorded here. Among these include 16 species of eagle, many hawks and falcons, six species of vultures, eight species of storks, four species of bustard (including the kori bustard, the world's heaviest flying bird), and nine species of sunbirds. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at your lodge.

On this day, we can plan for an optional visit to a Masai village(at additional cost). Alternatively, you can go on a hot air balloon safari(Optional, at an extra cost).
