As Tanzania’s oldest national park, the Serengeti preserves one of the world’s oldest ecosystems, with its landscape and vegetation remaining largely unchanged for millions of years. While the park hosts a wide variety of wildlife year-round, it is most famous for the Great Migration an annual movement of millions of wildebeest, accompanied by zebras and antelopes, following the rains in search of fresh grazing. The timing of this natural spectacle is driven by seasonal rainfall patterns.
