Along the way, you may stop briefly in Emali for refreshments or to browse local crafts. The drive takes approximately 5 to 6 hours, pass through changing landscapes from the swampy edges of Amboseli to the dry, rugged terrain characteristic of Tsavo. Along the way, you might catch glimpses of local villages and the red-earthed roads that hint at the unique color of Tsavo’s elephants. You’ll arrive at your lodge in time for lunch, followed by a bit of relaxation. In the afternoon, set out on a game drive through Tsavo East, one of Kenya’s oldest and largest parks, known for its dramatic scenery, the Galana River, and the iconic “red elephants” that dust themselves in the park’s rust-colored soil.
