In the late afternoon, embark on a boat safari along the Rufiji River, one of Africa’s largest rivers. This relaxing yet thrilling experience offers close encounters with hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and a variety of birds such as kingfishers and fish eagles. The river’s stunning scenery, especially at sunset, provides a magical start to your safari. You’ll enjoy a packed or roadside lunch en route, depending on timing and your guide’s recommendations. Upon arrival at Mikumi in the afternoon, check in at your lodge or tented camp and take some time to rest or refresh. If time allows, embark on a short introductory game drive in the park to get a first glimpse of Mikumi’s beautiful landscape and resident wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, antelopes, and a variety of birds. Return to your accommodation in the evening for a hot dinner and overnight stay, preparing for a full exploration of the park the following day.
