You'll also get a glimpse into local craftsmanship at artisan shops. After a city tour, enjoy lunch at a great spot before embarking on a scenic 3-hour drive to Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, take in the breathtaking mountainous landscape and lush tea plantations that earn Rwanda its "land of a thousand hills" nickname. Following breakfast, head to the Volcanoes National Park offices for a briefing on tracking golden monkeys. You'll have the chance to hire a porter to assist with luggage either during the briefing or at the trailhead. After a 2-hour hike, you'll spot these playful creatures feeding in the trees and on the ground. Found in Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, golden monkeys are critically endangered due to human activities. They're social animals, living in groups of around 80, and are known for their comfort around cameras - a bonus for photographers.
