As you travel through its rolling hills, you’ll often see Maasai herding their livestock—an authentic glimpse into local life. Your journey continues toward the Naabi Hill Gate, perched on a rise and offering a breathtaking, archetypal view of the Serengeti: a vast, open expanse stretching as far as the eye can see. Day 3
Game drive in the northern Serengeti National Park
Game drive in the northern Serengeti National Park
Game drive in the central-northern part of the National Park. Your guide will take you to the areas where the action is at its peak. For example, a day game drive could take you to a viewpoint along the Mara or Sand Rivers. With a bit of luck, you might witness one of the dramatic river crossings by massive herds of wildebeest and zebras. Each year, these animals face the life-threatening challenge of crossing the rivers in search of better grazing. Steep banks lead to the riverbanks, where they swim across, with crocodiles waiting in the water. On the opposite side, they must climb steep slopes, where lions, hyenas, and leopards may be waiting.

Day 4
Visiting a biodiversity conservation project on the border of Serengeti National Park
Visiting a biodiversity conservation project on the border of Serengeti National Park
Imagine living without a bank account – without a way to safely save money or access credit for your small business. The nearest bank is four hours away by bus, and the bus only runs every three hours. This is the reality for the 72 members of the Conservation Savings Group, over 70% of whom are women. The group lives in a small village on the outskirts of Serengeti National Park and belongs to the Ikoma community– once a traditionally hunting and gathering community.
In addition to lacking access to banking services, they face further challenges: elephants destroy their crops, grazing their animals within the protected Serengeti area is prohibited, and the once-vital practice of hunting is now illegal – with penalties of up to 30 years in prison.
So, how do they manage to survive despite all these obstacles, work toward a better future, and help protect the Serengeti ecosystem? You’ll uncover this during your safari in the Western Serengeti National Park along Mara River.
