The day begins with an early breakfast, setting the tone for an exciting and challenging trek ahead. Shortly after leaving Mandara Hut, you’ll begin to ascend beyond the timberline, entering the heath and moorland zone. This area, with its unique vegetation and rugged beauty, marks a shift in the landscape, offering a truly otherworldly atmosphere. The terrain here is more exposed, and the air begins to feel thinner as you gain altitude.

This hut offers stunning panoramic views of two of Mount Kilimanjaro's peaks—Mawenzi and Kibo—along with the expansive Masai steppe stretching far below. Acclimatization trek to Zebra Rocks (4020m) then back to Horombo Hut (3700m)

Today is an important acclimatization day, designed to help your body adjust to the higher altitude and improve your chances of successfully reaching the summit. Acclimatization is a key factor in ensuring a safe and successful climb, so it's crucial not to underestimate its significance.

After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll embark on a 4-hour trek to the Zebra Rocks, located at 4,020 meters. This striking rock formation is named for its unique black and white striped pattern, which stands out against the surrounding landscape. The trek to the Zebra Rocks offers stunning views and a chance to take in the surrounding beauty while giving your body the time it needs to adapt to the altitude.

The well-maintained trail takes you past the "Last Water Point," a critical stop for replenishing supplies before venturing further into the mountain’s high-altitude zones. Shortly after, you'll cross the "saddle"—a nearly barren, vegetation-free plateau that connects Mount Kilimanjaro’s main summit, Kibo, with the rugged peak of Mawenzi.

Upon arrival at Kibo Hut, you'll have a chance to rest and enjoy an early evening meal. Given that the summit attempt begins in the early hours of the next day, the night is purposefully kept short, allowing you to get as much rest as possible before the final, most strenuous leg of the journey.

This is a critical stage in your trek, as it prepares you physically and mentally for the summit climb that will follow the next day. Rest and nourishment at Kibo Hut are essential for the final push.
