Day 1

You will depart from Kampala or Entebbe early in the morning at around 6:00 AM for a scenic journey to the southwestern part of Uganda. The drive takes you through the countryside with rolling hills, vast plantations, and traditional homesteads. Along the way, you will stop at the Equator in Kayabwe for a short break and photo opportunity before continuing through Masaka and Mbarara towns. After lunch in Mbarara or Kabale, the journey proceeds deeper into the highlands, offering spectacular views as you ascend toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will arrive at your mid-range lodge in the late afternoon or early evening, where you will check in, relax, and enjoy a delicious dinner before preparing for the next day’s adventure.
Accommodation will be provided at a comfortable mid-range lodge near the gorilla trekking sector of Bwindi such as Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge or Rushaga Gorilla Haven Lodge, offering ensuite facilities and serene views of the forest.

Day 2

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After an early breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for a mandatory pre-trekking briefing. Trained rangers will guide you on the rules and what to expect during the gorilla trekking experience. You will then begin the trek into the forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The duration of the trek can range from two to six hours depending on where the gorillas are located. Once you find them, you will be allowed to spend one unforgettable hour observing them as they interact, feed, and move through the dense vegetation.
After the trek, you will return to the lodge to freshen up and have lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will depart for Lake Bunyonyi, which lies about one and a half hours away. Known for its calm waters and dramatic terraced hills, Lake Bunyonyi is a welcome retreat after a challenging trek. Upon arrival, you will check in at your lakeside lodge and spend the rest of the evening at leisure, soaking in the peaceful ambiance of the lake.

Day 3
Morning Boat Ride and Return to Kampala or Entebbe
Morning Boat Ride and Return to Kampala or Entebbe
You will start the day with a relaxed breakfast while enjoying panoramic views of the lake. Afterward, you will go on a guided boat ride to explore Lake Bunyonyi’s picturesque islands. One of the most interesting stops will be the infamous Punishment Island, where you will hear fascinating stories about the local traditions of the Bakiga people.
After the boat excursion, you will begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. The return drive includes a lunch stop and scenic views all the way. You are expected to arrive in the late evening, where you will either be dropped off at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight, depending on your schedule.
