Day 1

Transfer to mgahinga national park

After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by our driver guide who will brief you about your day’s safari. The journey goes through Masaka district, and several stopovers are granted, the major one at the Uganda equator for photography and viewing, another one at Igongo Cultural Centre for the visit to the Ankole Kigezi museum, and lunch. Then proceed with your journey to Mgahinga National Park, the smallest national park in the country but full of interesting wildlife, such as the golden monkeys and mountain gorillas. On arrival after a long journey, you will check in at the safari lodge for your accommodation.

Day 2

Gorilla trekking

Gorilla trekking

Start your day early with a hearty breakfast. Pack your lunch afterward, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on the trek. You’ll be grouped with other trekkers, assigned to a specific gorilla family, and led by a professional ranger guide. Trek through the lush forest and rugged terrain as you search for the mountain gorillas. The trek could last anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are located. Once you find the gorilla family, you’ll be allowed one hour to observe and photograph these magnificent creatures in their natural environment. Watch them as they play, eat, and interact with each other an unforgettable and humbling experience. You will transfer back to the lodge relax and later have dinner and overnight.

Day 3

Hiking

Have early Morning Breakfast at the lodge. Head to Ntebeko Visitor Center, the gateway to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, where your thrilling Gahinga Volcano Hike will begin. Accompanied by an experienced park guide and ranger, you’ll set off on your chosen trail, journeying through dense forests teeming with life. The forest is alive with the sound of birds and the rustle of wildlife, and you may even encounter some of the park’s lesser-known creatures. The trail will take you through a variety of landscapes, from lush forest undergrowth to open areas that offer panoramic views of the towering volcanoes and the surrounding valley below.
Once you’ve reached the summit or chosen a scenic point along your hike, you’ll have a moment to take in the awe-inspiring views and bask in the tranquility of the mountains. After your hike, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4

Batwa cultural experience & departure

Batwa cultural experience & departure

Have Breakfast at the lodge. Visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience. The Batwa are the indigenous people of the forest, and a visit to their village offers insight into their traditional way of life, their history, and their culture before they were relocated from the park. Spend time interacting with the Batwa, learning about their customs, music, dance, and crafts. You may also witness a traditional Batwa dance performance. Get back to the lodge and have lunch. After lunch, you will begin the drive back to Kampala or Entebbe.
