About Our Search Results & Rankings
Understanding how the SafariBookings search results and rankings work.
At SafariBookings.com, our goal is to simplify your search for the ideal safari tour. We know that finding the perfect match among thousands of options can be overwhelming. That is why we have developed a smart system that combines a dynamic ranking mechanism, recommendation labels and powerful filter options to assist you with your search. This page explains how this system works.
Filter Options
SafariBookings.com offers a wide range of filters to help you narrow down your search results. You can filter by destination, duration, comfort level, price range, average review rating and much more. These filters work in a straightforward manner: when you select a filter, all tours or tour operators that do not match the selected filter will be removed from the results. Paid placement does not influence the filters.
Ranking System
Our ranking system ensures that the most relevant and high-quality tours and tour operators appear first in your search results. The ranking is based on various factors that fall into three categories:
-
Performance
Tours and tour operators that perform well receive a ranking bonus and are more likely to rank higher. Performance is evaluated based on factors such as client review ratings, interest levels (such as how many people request a quote for a tour), response time to quote requests and other key performance factors. -
Relevance
To ensure you see the most suitable tours, we consider how well a tour matches your search criteria. For example, if you are based in the USA and search for a Tanzania safari, we may give a slight ranking bonus to tour operators located in either the USA or Tanzania, as they may better serve your needs. -
Paid Placement
Tour operators pay SafariBookings to receive quote requests, and those who offer a higher payment receive a higher ranking bonus. However, this is just one of several ranking factors. A tour with a lower payment can still rank higher if it performs better and is more relevant to your search.
Recommendation Labels
To make your search easier, we use two labels to highlight tours that are especially popular or offered by highly rated operators.
-
'Best Seller' Label
This label is awarded to tours that receive more quote requests than others. Only tours that have obtained a minimum number of requests qualify. If more than two tours are eligible on a page, only the two that have received the most quote requests will be given the label. That way we keep the label meaningful. This also means a tour might appear as a Best Seller in one set of results but not in another. -
'Top Rated Operator' Label
This label is given to tours offered by the top 50 highest-rated tour operators on SafariBookings.com. To earn this label, operators must meet strict criteria for a minimum average rating and a required number of reviews.
Bringing It All Together
Our filter options, ranking system and recommendation labels work together to create a powerful search experience. You begin by using the filters to specify your desired safari type and preferences. Our ranking system then organizes the results, prioritizing tours and operators based on a combination of performance, relevance and paid placement. Finally, the recommendation labels are applied to highlight tours that are particularly popular or offered by highly rated operators.
We are committed to continually improving these systems to provide you with the best possible search experience. We hope this explanation helps you make the most of our platform.
