My trip was absolutely amazing. I went to the Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli. All three are spectacular but I particularly loved the Maasai Mara. I was amazed at the sheer number of animals we saw.
I went in June and the weather was mostly good, with a couple of drizzly days. The main tour operators I went with were good, but I would recommend that if you book a tour online you make some inquiries as to what exactly the tour includes, as this is not always consistent with the description online.
A number of attractions ( for example the Nairobi National Park) require payment via the eCitizen system with no alternative, so make sure you have internet access/a Kenyan SIM card. The tour operators will usually organise the park fees for you but the one I booked for the Nairobi National Park didn‘t, and it was a real hassle to get in.
There are plenty of attractions in Nairobi so it‘s worth spending a few days there.

Once in a lifetime experience

We really enjoyed our two weeks in Kenya, which included a safari, some camping, time by the coast and some time in Nairobi.

The wildlife and landscapes are incredible - this was our first safari so not sure how it compares to other countries, but we saw everything we wanted to see. The weather was generally pleasant, a bit cooler with a few more showers than we were expecting but nice to not be sweltering.

The vast majority of people we spoke to were very friendly and customer service is generally very good. We weren't always sure about tipping but a small gesture of appreciation always seemed to go down well.

Visitors should be prepared to be approached by sales people in popular destinations like the beach - they were always very friendly and never aggressive, but some were very persistent which did taint our experience a bit.

We were in Nairobi during the protests, and other than road closures we weren't too affected. It's not the kind of city you can generally walk around very easily, so as long as you take sensible precautions it isn't a particularly unsafe place to be.

Surreal. The beauty and the wildlife but most of all the people will leave you stunned.

The wildlife was spectacular and the way the viewing were arranged by Mararumi safaris was nothing short of exceptional. Our driver and guide, Robin, was amazing. He was so well versed on where to find the animals and birds and was accommodating of all our requests. The places we stayed at amazing and it was a delight to enjoy international cuisines each day, along with the local fare.
The trip to Masai village was a cherry on the top. The way villagers live, how they create/make fire with just wood and stone, their way of life and the way they build the home, was a learning experience for all of us.

Kenya was a fantastic experience, starting with the Kenyans that are so friendly and helpful. The game drives were just like "National Geographic" and "Out of Africa". Masai culture is so rich and was great to visit the Masai Village.
Something to do at least once in a lifetime.

Amazing safari in Kenya

We loved Kenya! We went to Lake Nakauru and this was one of our favorites due to the diversity of animals. When we went it was so lush and green and lots of opportunities to see lots of wild life. I would have loved an additional night here. Our second favorite was Maasi Mara. So many elephants! We stayed at Osero tented Camp, this was by far my favorite tented camp. The camp was very intimate and tents were beautifully appointed. The super friendly staff and exceptional customer service made it even better. My third favorite park was Tsavo East. Lots of elephants and lost lot lions. I would highly recommended Kenya to anyone want to do a safari. We saw all of the big 5 and so much more by the second day. We also saw lions every day on our nine day safari.

Kenya has been the perfect destination for our 10 days safari with our 6yo daughter. The parks are literally bursting with wildlife and majestic scenery. The country is very diverse north to south, with lakes region and classic Masai Mara landscape in the north and dusty Amboseli and Tsavo at the south. We would recommend visiting several parks to appreciate the beauties of Kenya. Travelling such distance with a 6yo may be tiring but our fantastic guide Johnston from spirit of Kenya made sure to at we had all the breaks that we needed. Kenyans are very friendly and especially so with kids, so don’t be afraid to give them a memorable experience!!

Kenya is a fascinating experience, it allows you to get to know a reality very different from the European one. The management of the natural parks is very good although very expensive and certainly their landscapes are very great and the drivers (at least the one that touched us) expert when it comes to locating animals (lions, cheetahs, rhinoceroses).

DRIVERS IN KENYA should be more careful when driving. I was really scared many days because the way of driving there is horrible.

Beautiful country with many animals
Overall rating
4/5

Kenya is a very beautiful country with many animals. We were able to spot many animals and had a great experience. The guides keep each other informed where the wild animals can be found. It is definitely recommended to do this with a guide because Masai Mara is very large. We stayed in a lodge just outside the NP and that was a super nice lodge. Kenya definitely worth going to.
