Kenya deserves to be explored and appreciated by the more adventurous traveler for its scenic beauty alone. While the wildlife is by-and-large confined to reserves, they are spectacular in their relative naturalness and abundance of flora and fauna.
Kenya's great for an organised safari. If you are self-driving Southern Africa is much cheaper and easier, as are Uganda and Rwanda.
Not a Zoo like South Africa, not a bush discoteque like some lodges in Tanzania (with South African owners) - only the real thing, spiced with smiling locals.

We have been to Kenya three times on safari and will probably return again. Each time we find something new to visit and the parks, animals, and people are well worth the effort and cost of getting there.
I have visited about 10 countries in Africa. Kenya has the best wildlife, is one of the most beautiful scenically, has a great bush vibe about it and has the best birding I have seen. It is harder to do on your own (easier than Tanzania but much harder than South Africa).

Has great scenery, volcanoes, mountains, plains, lakes etc and abundant wildlife with friendly locals.
Hospitable country with enough park to make everyone happy.
Kenya gives you the chance to experience a real safari
