Vibrant, awe inspiring and exciting
I was travelling with a Kenyan friend and we treated ourselves to a three day private safari in the Masai Mara. We absolutely loved everything about it. Our guide was excellent and really friendly. We visited a Masai village which felt like a real privilege and the camp we stayed in was excellent. In just one day we saw lions, elephants, buffalo, zebra, antelopes, wildebeest, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, cheetah, warthogs, hyenas and stunning birds. The scanty is beautiful and really quite open. We enjoyed a picnic by the Mara river and a short walk on foot (guides with rifles available). While visiting my friends’ family, we did our own safari drive in Lake Nakuru National Park- it was l late afternoon/ early evening and just beautiful. It was really exciting to see rhinos amongst a herd of buffaloes and lions which were really active rather than lounging in the sun. It was sad to see the effects of climate change though- my friends remember the lake being pink with flamingos when they were younger, but there are now far, far fewer- still enough to be exciting for a foreigner!
Aside from safaris, my real highlight were the Kenyan people and their hospitality - I feel very lucky to have friends who helped me to discover their beautiful country, traditions and culture. I feel sure I will be back.

AMAZING BREATHLESS COUNTRY WITH A HUGE AMOUNT OF THIGS TO IMPROVE
I never expected how much and deeply this country impressed us.
We have been for two weeks in Nairobi, Massai Mara Nakuru Naivasha Hell´s Gate Mombassa Diani Beach, and Lamu.
No words to describe all the wild beauty of the country
Six National parks, big five, ugly five, elephants orphanage, and giraffe orphanage, snake park...
We meet people Massai and Kikuyu and are with them (out of the tourist ambiance) and speak with foreign residents from Italy Spain and England.
We read the history of the country and visited Nairobi's museums where our guide explain us much more than a book.
We feel very safe
But, it's so obvious that the country needs to improve a lot of things in order to attract tourism to visit this impressive beautiful, and historical country beyond visiting national parks.
Roads, trains, unexisting public transport, cleaning and appearance of the cities and beaches (look at the capital)
Nonetheless, I'll be back the soon as I can

Superb Safari
Safari in different areas is worthwhile.
Masai and Amboseli are both brilliant and work visiting. Amboseli in particular is amazing for the volume of hippos and elephants.
Lake Nakuru was great for watching the rhinos, flamingos.
Hell's gate was a little disappointing.
I loved Tsavo West - thick grass/bushes, red soil - so different from other areas, yet good wildlife, and we finally saw a leopard ! Not as much wildlife as other areas, but still enjoyable. It is a bit more of an adventure.
Make sure you take new $100 bills (2017), as the old ones (1999) are sometimes not accepted!
Early starts are worthwhile on safari.

Once in a lifetime tour, perfect budget safari!
We did the 2 night 3 day Masai Mara tour. The pickup process was really easy, and we were grouped with such great people which made the experience lots of fun during the down times (there is a LOT of driving). 3 days was great as we got to see almost everything and enjoy the camp life within the Masai. Great amount of time, good price, amazing experience seeing elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, and more.

Nairobi as vibrant city - manifold wildlife and landscape in Amboseli NP
Nairobi is a vibrant city, a small cosmopolitan in East Africa with nice restaurants from all over the world.
Amboseli NP offers a beautiful landscape which includes everything you wish for: Mount Kilimanjaro in the background, a lake, swamp, desert, bushland and with it comes fabulous wildlife especially many elephants.
An experience to remember
Our trip to Kenya was one to remember indeed! We enjoyed the cultural insights we experienced visiting local villages and markets. We imagined a more thrilling experience during game drives but timing and drought were against us. If you are planning to visit Kenya, trust you will have great times there but plan carefully for the time of your visit and your food :). It is quite hard to find convenient food options if you are traveling on a budget Safari thus plan accordingly. We will revisit the country with family members definitely.
