Wildlife at your fingertips
Overall rating
4/5

The weather was poor due to climate change - the short dry season was supposed to be starting, but there were heavy rains and floods. Because of that there were less animals in Masai Mara than usually, but still there where plenty - I saw lions, leopards, cheetah, elephants, giraffes, hippos, gazelles, antelopes, monkeys, crocodiles, lizards and many species of birds. On the plus side - no mosquitoes and dramatic skies over the savannah. It was definitely worth to go.

We could see so many wildlife in one area ! Each time we sight an animal, it is doing something different...hunting, eating or just lazing around...this includes the bird life as well. The sunrise and sunset mood are just simply beautiful!

Amazing perfect trip!

Guide was Soloman and he was amazing! Went above and beyond to find the animals. Lovely man who I would happily go on any trip with. Saw every animal possible at Masai Mara, except the rhino... but on our journey back to Nairobi Soloman spotted one in the city national park. This made our holiday!!
Transport was great. Accommodation was nice, pre erected tent but actual beds. Wish the trip was longer

The beauty between the animals inside the cage and the free ones are way different. You will feel them alive and happy. It was very beautiful place to be!
However, there are part of the tour that we didnt do and did not advise us earlier why we are not doing it so. And im talking about the spring or thermal bath. We could have spend more time cycling than bringing us back to Nairobi, there are still plenty of time.

The trip was awesome. It's a long bumpy journey that is broken with a view if the rift valley then lunch. There is no rush. The accomodation is basic. Comfortable and clean. Take a torch. Food is Kenyan buffet traditional food and lots of it. You are there for the animals and experience which was fantastic. We had a lot of rain the first day but still went out and saw a lion. The full say we saw everything. Our guide James was fantastic and took us everywhere and we saw cheetahs lots of lions elephants lupi giraffes everything it was amazing... I went to the local masai camp and would recommend doing so. It's an eye opener. We then went to Lake Navaisha on the way back which again was great. It takes a long time travelling back to Nairobi. Be prepared the roads are great. We had 5 if us in the van which meant we had space. I would highly recommend it.

We did Lake Naivasha and Masaai Mara with Eliud in 4 days. Lake Naivasha was really nice with great accommodation at Sopa Lodge. The hippos came at night near our house, the food was great. The weather was ok.
In Mara the accommodation would be good as well (Sarova Mara Game Camp), but it was raining some of the time, interrupted one of the game drives and was cold in the tent. Mara is too crowded, even in the shoulder season, you feel like in a big zoo rather than in the wild. We have a comparison as we traveled alone after the organized safari to Tsavo, which is peaceful but has far less animals to spot.
Eliud was a great companion to talk to and spend time with, professional and helpful. Would recommend his service to anybody as well as Amazing Memories Safaris as the organizers.

Magic trip with a super driver

Everything was perfect, we saw lots of animals and a lot of lions and hyenas (I'm big fan of hyena). Lots of babies of every kind at the time of the year.
Food and accommodation were very nice. We have some rain but hopefully it wasn't during the game drives. 4 different area with a change of scenery each time. And the driver was perfect! Thx a million, it was an amazing journey!

Lions were expected, but the experience delivered so much more with ecological observations

Kenya offers more wildlife experiences on a lower budget than you'll find in other African countries. In the Maasai Mara we saw many prides of lions, mostly resting and sleeping but we did encounter a lioness who was the last of her pride to eat (so scavengers were gathering to finish the remains). Even if your guide may not be the most knowledgeable about the local fauna, the guides use teamwork and communicate when unusual sightings take place. Thus, you are often ensured of seeing great sights.

Once in a lifetime experiencie

It was very difficult for me to find a company that could give me advice and have enough patience to help me organize my safari, having in consideration that I travelled on my own. Vanessa was very very helpful and kind. She has patience and helped me designed the trip, acording to the time I had available.
I was very lucky to have Joseph as my driver and tour guide. He is extremely kind and polite. He shown his knowledge about the fauna, and the area in general. He also was aware if I ate or not, if I was feeling well or not. He went beyond his duties and always with a smile, trying to find as many animals as possible, and we did! I could see the Big 5 and even more animals. It has been so amazing.
Every activity was done according the schedule, very organized. I do not have complaints about that. Regarding accomodations, the least I liked was Lake Nakuru Lodge because the bedrooms were quite old. At Amboseli Serena did not have any problems...just the baboons, which I really do not like.
The best for me was Ilkeliani Camp. I will definitely go back. It was very pleasant and quiet. I wish I could have stayed longer.
About the food in all accomodations, to me...breakfast was the best. Regarding to lunch and dinner, there were interesting options.
Thank you for the experience and I am looking forward to go back to Africa next year. I will definitely book it with you.
I will send you some pictures about my experience....can´t wait to go back, so feel free to send me information :)
