Wildlife viewing in Kirindy Forest is best in October and November. This is when mate (usually beginning in late October), which is one of Madagascar’s true wildlife highlights. Fossas can be seen year-round. Although it’s possible to visit during the rest of the year, December to March can be uncomfortably wet, hot and humid. hibernate in the Dry season (April to October) and are mostly seen only after rain.

Best Weather May to September (It is cooler and dry)

April to October Dry Season – Winter

Expect dry conditions and easy access to the reserve
Activities are rarely interrupted by rain
Lemurs can be found throughout the year
Fossa sightings are always possible
Reptiles and amphibians are less active during the colder months
Malagasy giant rats hibernate at this time of year
The park gets relatively busy in July and August (plus December)

November to March Wet Season – Summer

Reptiles are more active and colorful
Fossas are more active and usually mate between late October and late November
December to March is quite wet, hot and humid
The access road to the reserve might be in poor condition after heavy rain
