Wildlife viewing in Lengwe National Park is best from July to September, during the middle and end of the Dry season (May to October). All water in the bush has dried out then and animals gather at the waterholes. October is extremely hot, which may not suit everyone.
Best wildlife viewing, with animals found around waterholes
It is sunny and rarely rains
Malaria risk is present but reduced
Sky is very hazy and the bush looks parched
October is unbearably hot
Mornings are cold from May to August
The scenery is green and fresh
Fewer tourists, and rates might be lower
Best birding time as migrant species are present
There are many newborn animals
Wildlife viewing is better in the Dry season
It is very hot and humid
Malaria is a bigger concern than in the Dry season
Road conditions become bad, and they are sometimes impassable
The park and only lodge might close after the first heavy rains, only to reopen in May
