We only had a relatively short time in the Park but certainly enjoyed both the scenery and all the elephants.

Thick vegetation makes it hard to see wildlife well. Only a few areas where lots of wild life can be seen.

So much beauty! Wildlife abounds! Each time you start to think the search for another animal is starting to take time, something appears!

This was our first day on safari, and we didn't spend as long here as we did in other parks. We had a boxed lunch watching Lake Manyara and the Rift Valley. We are not birders – but no one could fail to be impressed with the all the birds -red and yellow barbet hopping around our feet, a weaver bird finishing off a nest a few feet from us, several other species with spectacular colours. After lunch, we drove around the park and saw our first zebras (babies too), giraffes (babies too), impalas (babies too), buffalos, warthogs and flamingoes from a distance. Many elephants and babies. On the way out, we stopped to watch a family of baboons, and later a family of Vervet monkeys.

The lake level is continually being depleted for agricultural interests and as such the ability to see hippo, flamingos and other water reliant species are being diminished. This park can be bypassed if on a tight schedule and/or budget. I rate this park Fair for wildlife photography.

We have visited this park among several others during a honeymoon trip back in 1999. This was our first safari but we have been enjoying this so much that we still remember this as the best trip of our life and keep dreaming of getting back there.
This was the first park of our trip. We saw a lot of monkeys and birds.

I'm not really a fan of Manyara, as the tourist circuit in the North tends to get very clumped up around these parks in my opinion. The game sighting is nothing to write home about, other than maybe flamingos. There are much better parks in Tanzania.

Not as spectacular as Serengeti or Ngorongoro but good close up views of elephants. Close to Arusha too
