Most people start their holiday in Madagascar in the capital city of Antananarivo (Tana). Your tour operator will probably pick you up at Ivato International Airport (TNR) and handle all onward travel from there.
Nosy Mangabe Special Reserve is never visited by itself. Overnight camping is possible, but most people visit the island as a day trip. Usually this is done coming from Maroantsetra or in combination with a safari to the mainland’s Masoala National Park.
The gateway town to Masoala and Nosy Mangabe is Maroantsetra, which is 750km/466mi from Antananarivo. The boat transfer from Maroantsetra to Nosy Mangabe takes 30 to 45 minutes and is dependent on the weather.
